“To find today’s top talent, intelligent digital solutions are needed that help sort information and sync data,” says Rebecka.
Centigo’s experience is that it is possible to work both efficiently and be inclusive with the help of AI. By faster sorting, selection and interaction, you can save time even when the amount of data increases. With proper algorithms, the information can be sorted from parameters such as sex, age and ethnicity to prevent any distortion of the process.
The first impression is crucial
The hotel and restaurant industry is booming and has an intensive need to quickly recruit staff. Diversity among the staff is desirable as you have many international guests. Henrik Dider is HR Director of Scandic Hotels Sweden, which annually needs to employ 2,000 people for the coming years.
For Scandic, the employees’ personality and sense of service are more important than education or professional experience. Therefore, they have chosen to place both the CV and the personal letter last in the recruitment process. Instead, the applicants record a short video where they respond to how they feel about service, as well as describing themselves.
“They get about 20 seconds, which is the same amount of time that the hotel or restaurant has to make a good first impression with the guest,” says Henrik.

As a democratic agent and entrepreneur, Barakat Ghebrehwariat from Democrateam has extensive experience working with diversity based on a communication and norm critical perspective. He sees a certain risk of digital discrimination if the correct human skills are lacking in the programming of the robots.
"Because data is often lacking, diversity is still a lot about guessing," says Barakat.
With today’s technology, AI is primarily used to sort the information while people analyze it. The golden rule “junk data in - junk data out” still applies. It’s all about the human factor and being constantly aware of one’s own unconsciousness and personal references when dealing with data.
He sees the development of AI and how to handle trolls as other important issues. If robots end up in the wrong hands, they can easily be trained to become racist, anti-semitic or discriminatory in other ways. So far, only people have the ability to think ethically and emphatically.
